Can You Surry? The Songs of Laura Nyro
Shepley departs from the Great American Songbook and songs of Fran Landesman to explore one of her favorite singer/songwriters, Laura Nyro. Though she had a devoted following Nyro never had a gold album or a hit single, but some of her songs were huge hits for others, including “Stoned Soul Picnic,” “And When I Die,” “Stoney End,” “Wedding Bell Blues,” and “Eli's Comin.” Her 1968 album “Eli and the Thirteenth Confession.” is considered one of the most influential pop recordings of the late 1960’s. Nyro is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this spring; read about her life and music.
With Tom LaMark on piano, Chris Rathbun on bass, and Yoron Israel on drums. Tickets will be on sale later this winter.
